Guizhou mountain motorsports series kicks off in Huaxi

A mountain motorsports series featuring more than 400 motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and campers kicked off on Sept 12 in Huaxi district of Guiyang, Guizhou province, bringing together outdoor sports enthusiasts for a two-day, one-night event.

The "Gather in Guizhou: Mountain Heroes" series combined motorsports with vehicle tours, ethnic music, stargazing, camping, and intangible cultural heritage experiences, showcasing Huaxi's natural appeal and outdoor attractions.

The event opened with a 30-kilometer mountain drive from Qiantao township to Yunding Park. The convoy wound through rural roads and mountain passes before reaching the park, where participants and visitors joined a range of activities, including a mountain market, interactive games, craft workshops, and barbecues.

The program also featured a sunset viewing platform, bonfires, and guided stargazing, along with a music carnival, overnight camping, a T3 relay run, and a national off-road racing event in Mengguan scheduled to follow.

By connecting several outdoor spots across Huaxi, the event aimed to integrate sports and tourism, turning the appeal of major sporting events into a fresh drive for local tourism and spending.
