China tops medal table at World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026

Sept 13 marked the final day of the World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 in Guiyang, Guizhou province, with the men's and women's speed relay finals bringing the three-day event to a close. China claimed gold in both events, finishing at the top of the overall medal table and gold medal table with three golds, three silvers, and one bronze.

According to the event organizing committee, Chinese athletes won gold in the women's speed, men's speed relay, and women's speed relay events, along with silver in the men's speed, men's relay, and mixed relay events, and bronze in the men's speed event.

Indonesia won two golds, while Ukraine and Spain each took one silver. South Korea won two bronzes, with the United States and Austria each earning one.

In the men's speed relay final that evening, China swept the top two spots, with Zhao Yicheng and Ling Yongzhi taking gold in 9.67 seconds.

In the women's speed relay final, China's Zhang Shaoqin and Fan Jingyue worked seamlessly together to win gold in 13.18 seconds. Zhang, a native of Guizhou, said after the race, "Standing on the top podium with my teammate in front of people from my hometown is an honor not only for the Chinese climbing team, but also for Guizhou."
