Guiyang cyclists shine at 2026 UCI Asian Mountain Bike Series

The Guiyang leg of the 2026 UCI Asian Mountain Bike Series concluded on Sept 6 at the Qingzhen Campus of Guizhou Vocational and Technical University. Four athletes from Guiyang delivered strong performances, with Wang Sheng and Xie Guangchao claiming first and second place, respectively, in the Men's Elite XCO event. Tang Shuang finished third in the Junior XCO event, while Li Facai took third in the Women's Elite XCO event.

As a UCI-certified continental points event, the competition brought together 16 teams and 226 professional cyclists from six Asian countries and regions.

On the first day, riders competed in the XCC Short Track Cross-Country and XCE Cross-Country Eliminator events, alongside races in the Open, Masters, and Youth categories. Riders showcased precise bike-handling skills, strong physical endurance, and tactical versatility as they tackled the winding, undulating and technically challenging mountain course.

The XCO Olympic Cross-Country finals were held the following day. The 3.5-kilometer course featured varied terrain, changing gradients, and numerous technical sections, testing riders' endurance, cornering skills, obstacle-clearing abilities, and tactical decision-making under pressure.
