Guiyang and Gui'an boost summer economy with sports events

Since the beginning of summer, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have utilized their cool climate and advantages in mountain outdoor sports to host international, national, and community-level sporting events, promoting the integrated development of sports, culture and tourism, and commerce. From July to September, more than 150 sports events with over 500 competitions will be held across Guiyang and Gui'an.

On Aug 21, the 2026 Guiyang City Super League kicked off in Guanshanhu district, attracting teams from 12 cities, with additional participation from teams representing Seattle and Hong Kong. At the same time, the Bank of Guizhou Cup 2026 "Cool Guiyang" National City Elite Invitational Volleyball Tournament was held, bringing together 80 teams and more than 1,000 volleyball fans.

Participants praised Guiyang for its pleasant climate, well-organized event services, and abundant tourism resources, saying these elements made their competition experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

This summer, the 2026 CFA China Team Guiyang International Youth Football Invitational Tournament drew more than 32,000 fans, while the 2026 Guiyang Marathon brought together 25,000 runners and generated more than 12 billion yuan ($178.49 million) in total economic benefits.
