Guiyang to host UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Championships in late August

The UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Championships will be held in Guiyang from Aug 24 to 30, marking the city's first time hosting a world-level championship for an Olympic multi-sport event.

It is also the first top-tier competition in Asia to be staged following the official implementation of the UIPM's new competition format in 2025.

The event is expected to attract over 500 athletes from more than 40 countries to Guiyang, serving as a major international platform for showcasing the city's ecology, urban vitality, and event-hosting capabilities to a global audience.

To ensure high-standard operations, the championships will fully enforce the latest UIPM competition rules, aligning with top-tier international event standards across competition organization, venue equipment, timing and scoring, anti-doping protocols, media broadcasting, and delegation services.

The main competition venues will be located in Guiyang's Huaxi district, utilizing premium facilities including Huaxihu Park and the School of Physical Education at Guizhou University to host all events.

With high-quality venues and mature supporting infrastructure, the championships will provide a stage for fair competition and athletic excellence while delivering a full presentation of the unique multi-discipline fusion that defines modern pentathlon as a spectator sport.
