Guiyang cyclists Wang Sheng and Xie Guangchao delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Mountain Bike Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from June 23 to 28, winning multiple medals across various events.

On June 23, Wang Sheng joined teammates Wang Ting, Wang Zhihao, Qian Cunxiu, Wu Zhifan, and Yuan Jinwei in the Cross-country Team Relay, competing against teams from four other countries. The Chinese squad delivered smooth transitions and a consistent pace throughout the race, taking the lead from the opening leg.
Wang completed the first leg in 9 minutes and 57 seconds, giving China an early advantage. His teammates extended the lead, and the team secured the gold medal in 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 39 seconds. Japan claimed the silver medal, while India took bronze.
Later that day, in the Men's Under-23 Cross-country Short Track, Xie Guangchao won gold in 19 minutes and 30 seconds. Fellow Guizhou rider Chen Xing finished second in 19 minutes and 33 seconds, while Wang Sheng earned the bronze medal in 19 minutes and 34 seconds.

On June 25, Wang Sheng captured another gold in the Men's Under-23 Olympic Cross-country event. A Japanese rider finished second, while Xie Guangchao claimed the bronze medal.
As Asia's highest-level mountain biking competition, the 2026 Asian Mountain Bike Championships attracted elite riders from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, and host nation Uzbekistan.
