Guiyang Marathon showcases elite competition

The Guiyang Marathon was held on June 14 at the North Square of the Guiyang International Conference and Exhibition Center, bringing together 25,000 runners from China's 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, as well as 27 countries and regions worldwide.

Since its launch in 2014, the Guiyang Marathon has upheld the core values of "joyful running and public participation", attracting more than 200,000 runners over the years. It has since grown into a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race and a China Athletics Association A1-certified event.

Ethiopian runners Abdulwokil and Haile claimed first and second place in the men's full marathon, finishing in 2 hours 15 minutes 13 seconds and 02:15:55, respectively. Kenya's Joei took third place with a time of 02:16:53.

In the women's full marathon, Ethiopia's Fikrte won the title in 02:29:04, setting a new course record. Her compatriots Kolole and Betelhem finished second and third with times of 02:30:32 and 02:37:13, respectively.

In the domestic men's category, Guizhou athletes Hong Yue, Guan Yousheng, and Cen Wanjiang claimed first, second, and third places with times of 02:19:21, 02:20:09, and 02:21:32, respectively. In the domestic women's category, Guizhou runners Pan Sufang and Zhang Shanshan took first and second place with times of 02:45:34 and 02:49:04, while Hunan athlete Huang Fei finished third in 02:49:43.

The event also featured supporting activities, including consumption discounts, reductions in scenic attraction ticket prices, and accommodation benefits, further promoting the integrated development of sports, tourism, and consumer spending.
