Guiyang showcases major sporting events at Guangzhou promotion event

The 2026 Guizhou Sports Events Promotion (Guangzhou leg), hosted by the Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, was held in Guangzhou city on April 28. Du Lingyun, director of the Guiyang sports bureau, presented two flagship events: the 2026 Guiyang Marathon and the 2026 World Boxing Cup China Stop.

The 2026 Guiyang Marathon will kick off on June 14. As a World Athletics Elite Label race, this year's event will welcome 25,000 participants and has grown into one of China's most influential marathon brands. The course winds through the city's ecological green corridors, offering runners a refreshing experience in a natural "oxygen bar" with high levels of negative oxygen ions.

For runners from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guiyang will launch direct high-speed train services. Participants can also use their race bibs to enjoy free or discounted access to major tourist attractions, as well as intangible cultural heritage performances and the vibrant "Guiyang Marathon Night" street concerts.

The 2026 World Boxing Cup China Stop will take place at Guiyang Olympic Sports Center from June 15 to 21. This marks the first time Guiyang hosts a top-tier global boxing event, bringing together over 400 elite boxers from more than 50 countries and regions.

In addition, Guiyang's 2026 Summer Cooling Season (May to October) will feature a lineup of major sporting events every month, including national and international competitions in rock climbing, modern pentathlon, roller skating, pickleball, volleyball, and tennis. The city's homegrown football league will run throughout the year, adding to the excitement.
