Half marathon kicks off amid cherry blossom season in Guiyang and Gui'an

The Guiyang and Gui'an Cherry Blossom Half Marathon kicked off beside the Gui'an Cherry Blossom Garden in Southwest China's Guizhou province at 8 am on March 29, marking a vibrant start to the race.

A total of 6,000 runners set off from the Gui'an Planning and Exhibition Center, running along Baimai Avenue, Qing'an Avenue, and Shugu Avenue. Surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms and fresh spring air, participants completed the race amid a scenic and energetic atmosphere.

Among them were 37 runners with disabilities, who successfully finished the race with the guidance of volunteer pacers and the assistance of specialized equipment.

The event also served as the opening race of the 2026 Colorful Guizhou Half Marathon Super League (First Stop), launching a year-long marathon series across the province and offering runners the opportunity to experience the beauty of Guizhou's landscapes and the joy of running throughout all four seasons.
