Xiuwen holds municipal football competition

The opening ceremony of the 2026 Shanhua Cup - City Football Invitational Tournament Guiyang Team Qualifying Trials was held on March 14 in Xiuwen county, with over 3,000 citizens and football fans attending.

The competition aims to select outstanding teams to represent Guiyang in the City Football Invitational Tournament, stimulate public enthusiasm for football, advance the national fitness cause, and foster a positive, healthy, and dynamic sports atmosphere.

The 11 participating teams from Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area entered the venue with the referees amid much applause and cheers. Representatives of the athletes and referees took solemn oaths, respectively, promising to abide by the competition rules, promote good sportsmanship, and safeguard the fairness and impartiality of the event.

The opening match of the competition kicked off with Xiuwen Team playing against Qingzhen Team. Players from both sides quickly got into the game and fought hard, drawing waves of cheers from the spectators.

To further enrich the spectators' experience, a special market was also set up at the event, showcasing local delicacies and cultural products of Xiuwen. The raffle after the match brought extra surprises and joy to the spectators.

"We hope that more events like this will be held in the future! The atmosphere here is fantastic, and it shows the spirit of Xiuwen. Both the audience and the players are united," said Yang Jinsong, a Xiuwen resident.
