Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, launched the "Running Guiyang" city sports IP in 2025, integrating sports development with culture, tourism, and related industries to drive urban growth.

In March, the 2025 Guiyang and Gui'an Cherry Blossom Half Marathon was held, with a course connecting the Gui'an New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, Xingyue Lake, and Moon Lake Park. The event combined competitive sports with ecological scenery and the city's modern urban landscape.

The same month, Guiyang hosted the opening match of the 2025 China League Two, sponsored by China Resources Beverage. The opening ceremony featured performances blending football culture with traditional arts, including the Dong ethnic grand song.

In June, the Guiyang Marathon was held and, for the first time, earned the World Athletics Elite Label. In July, the 2025 Guizhou "Spark Cup" International Youth Football Invitational Tournament attracted multiple youth teams across China and abroad.

In August, the Asian Youth Climbing Championships opened in Guiyang, bringing together 211 young athletes from 14 countries.

Subsequently, Guiyang hosted a series of major events, including a Guizhou provincial ball competition (soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, tennis) for youth, the City Football Invitational Tournament Guiyang 2025, a provincial road cycling race around Guizhou Park, the China-Japan-South Korea Go Elite Invitational, and the finals of the Chinese Table Tennis Association Members League.
