Guiyang city held a cycling race on Oct 18, offering a prize pool of more than 1 million yuan ($140,463).
The 60-kilometer course started at Guizhou Cailake International Climbing Center, wound through the city's outer-ring greenway, and finished in Gui'an New Area, connecting the vibrant urban axis, golden rice fields, and tranquil natural landscapes and showcasing Guiyang's unique ecological charm.
The race featured professional and amateur categories, with the professional division attracting elite teams from 30 countries, including local favorite Guizhou Qianyougu Cili Cycling Team, and the amateur race gathering over 1,200 cycling enthusiasts, ranging from young riders to seniors.
This year's event also introduced a new format, allowing male and female professional riders to compete together, marking a milestone in promoting gender equality in cycling.
Leading up to the race, a two-day pre-race carnival was held from Oct 16 to 17, featuring a star rider autograph session and BMX stunt shows. A team presentation ceremony and roadside concert were also held on the evening of Oct 17.
