A special welcome ceremony was held at the Guiyang International Equestrian Sports Center in Guiyang on July 2 to welcome the equestrian athletes of the national modern pentathlon delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The modern pentathlon consists of four events: equestrian, fencing, swimming, and a combined event of laser running and shooting.

The equestrian team will undergo a four-week training camp in Guiyang before heading to Paris for the Olympic Games.

"The climate in Guiyang is similar to Paris, which helps athletes adapt to the competition environment in advance. The facilities at the Guiyang International Equestrian Sports Center are excellent and meet our training needs," said Zhao Jianqing, the leader of the team, in an interview.

"We manage the equestrian facilities and environment to high standards and provide round-the-clock services to athletes and their accompanying team, taking good care of the athletes' horses and meeting their various needs as best we can," said Liu Hui, operations director of the Guiyang International Equestrian Sports Center.

The Guiyang International Equestrian Sports Center has hosted various Chinese and international equestrian events. In 2023, it partnered with Beijing Olympic equestrian rider Huang Zuping to host the nationwide youth equestrian show jumping competition.
