Popular Guiyang city marathon helps inspire national fitness

The 2024 Guiyang International Marathon was held on June 16 in Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – with 32,000 running enthusiasts from around the world participating in the grand event.

The marathon included a Southwest Region University Race – opening registrations to all colleges in Southwest China, attracting university students to compete in Guiyang.

"I can't wait to participate in the Guiyang Marathon again," said Zhang Lei, a runner from Sichuan University, who is already looking forward to next year's race.

The event also launched a charity run event, encouraging more people to participate in charitable activities. All funds raised will be used to support rural vitalization and the development of sports in Guiyang.

Moreover, the marathon incorporated AI video services to provide participants with race video recording services.

With the expansion of the Guiyang Marathon's scale and the upgrading of its services, more Guiyang residents are joining the nationwide fitness movement.

That's evident in the mornings – in the city's parks, greenways and squares – which are nowadays filled with people doing morning exercises, square dancing and jogging.
