The Guiyang Disabled Persons' Federation announced on June 17 that from July to September, Guiyang will offer free sports training for people with disabilities in three disciplines: track and field, swimming, and badminton.

The initiative aims to strengthen the city's disabled sports teams, enhance the competitive skills of athletes with disabilities, and identify and nurture potential sports talent.

Each district and county in Guiyang will distribute fixed training points for track and field and swimming, where participating athletes can train at designated nearby facilities. For badminton, however, athletes will be sent to the Guizhou Provincial Disabled Persons' Badminton Training Base for intensive training.

Individuals with disabilities aged eight to 20 (age criteria can be relaxed for particularly outstanding or promising candidates) who are free from any infectious or chronic diseases and wish to engage in sports can register with their local disabled persons' federations.

It is important to note that athletes must meet the minimum classification standards as stipulated in the latest competition rules and classification manuals of the China Paralympic Committee and the China Deaf Sports Association.
