Established in 2014, the Guiyang Marathon has successfully held seven editions. Its inaugural edition earned the title of "Chinese Athletics Association Bronze Medal Event" from the Chinese Athletics Association. In 2023, it was recognized by the Chinese Athletics Association as an integrated sports and tourism development event.
In this year's edition, the marathon course has undergone comprehensive optimization in order to showcase the ecological beauty of Guiyang.
