Guiyang and Gui'an organize running event to celebrate spring

A cherry blossom-themed running activity kicked off in Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on March 10.

A total of 5,000 participants ran amidst a sprawling cherry blossom forest, creating a picturesque spring scene. The event organized a 10.54-km route, with separate divisions for women and men, comprising 3,000 and 2,000 participants, respectively.

The race started on Gui'an Avenue, passing through the Cherry Blossom Garden, Yinguan Bridge, Hongqi Bridge, and the Gaofeng Overpass, finally reaching the finish line at the Gaofeng Overpass ramp.

What did this marathon bring to Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area?

As living standards continue to rise, there is an increasing demand among people for healthy living and spiritual fulfillment. As a national fitness activity, running events meet the needs of the public and reflect the vibrant development of Guiyang and Gui'an.

"The scenery here is beautiful, and the air is fresh! The participants are also very energetic, and there were cheers along the way during the competition, which feels great," said Fan Kaili, the first-place winner in the women's division.

Integrating sports into daily life is part of Guiyang and Gui'an's commitment to putting people first.

"We came here because of the cherry blossom theme. Although the cherry blossoms haven't bloomed yet, the surrounding scenery is beautiful," said Ms Luo, a participant from Shenzhen city, South China's Guangdong province. She mentioned that another highlight of participating in this activity was the access to the city's unique foods.

"The local snacks here are also delicious," she praised. Before the race, she enjoyed fried potatoes, sticky rice, and other local delicacies.
