Guiyang badminton athletes excelled at the recently concluded points race to secure their places in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Cheng Hefang won the SL4 women's singles championship, while Yang Qiuxia claimed the SU5 women's singles title and finished as the runner-up in the SL3-SU5 women's doubles.

After this victory, both athletes are set to compete in the Women's Badminton Championships of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, which is scheduled to take place this September.

Che Jun, coach of the Guiyang Badminton Team for Athletes with Disabilities, stated that in pursuit of the limited available positions for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games Women's Badminton Championships, Cheng and Yang competed in points races in Thailand, Bahrain, and Japan.

During the preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games in October 2023, Cheng suffered a severe left ankle fracture, with an estimated recovery time of at least three months.

To ensure minimal disruption to training and competitions, upon expert advice, the Guiyang team's medical staff members managed to stabilize Cheng's joint, allowing her to continue training and competing.

Similarly, Yang faced tough competition during this points race, but managed to emerge victorious in the end.

Next, Cheng and Yang will undergo a six-month closed-door training session in Beijing to prepare for the following championships in September.
