Guiyang runner shines at Asian Marathon Championships

Huang Yongzheng from Guiyang city secured second place in the men's overall at the 19th Asian Marathon Championships and eighth place at the 2024 Hong Kong Marathon on Jan 21, with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 24 seconds.

This accomplishment marked the best performance by a male Chinese athlete in the Asian Marathon Championships.

On Jan 21, the 2024 Hong Kong Marathon kicked off, attracting some 74,000 participants in what is considered a major annual event in the Hong Kong sports community.

The marathon featured a full marathon, half marathon, and 10-kilometer categories. The starting points for the full and half marathons were located on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, while the 10-kilometer category started from the Island Eastern Corridor. All categories concluded at Victoria Park.

The event's organizing committee extended invitations to international runners and concurrently hosted the 19th Asian Marathon Championships.
