Guiyang holds open adult tai chi tournament

Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, played host to a great sporting event – the 2023 Guiyang Adult Tai Chi Open Tournament – at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Center on Oct 23.

Over 100 people participated in the competition.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of fitness among the public and to contribute to the development of a more comprehensive public fitness service system.

The competition included both adult male and female categories, featuring six tai chi routines.

To the spectators, the athletes' movements were a perfect blend of firmness and gentleness. With graceful footwork, unique hand gestures and coordinated body movements, they displayed the harmonious beauty of tai chi.

The organizer said the event would help foster a positive atmosphere for the health and well-being of the elderly – and inject new vitality into the city's sports industry.
