Guiyang holds square dance competition

On Dec 16, the third Guiyang Ethnic Fitness Square Dance Competition took place in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with over 20 teams and more than 200 participants showcasing their talents.

Dressed in colorful costumes, the participants seamlessly blended the elegance of dancing with the vigor of fitness exercises, earning rounds of applause from the enthusiastic audience.

As a cherished mass sport and cultural event, fitness square dances with ethnic roots combine elements of sports, ethnic culture, music, and dancing, giving it a wide base of popularity.

"We formed this team in 2013, and over the years, we have achieved noteworthy rankings in both national and provincial-level competitions," said Li Chun from the dance team of the Nanming District Cultural Center, which participated in at least one of the events.

Guiyang City and Guian New Area are committed to building a higher-level public fitness service system to better meet the fitness needs of residents.
