Guiyang selects top table tennis talents

The Guiyang Youth Table Tennis Tournament kicked off in the city on July 1. During the four-day competition, 75 teams from primary and secondary schools and table tennis clubs across the city competed with a total of 420 young athletes participating.

On the court, the players battled it out, and the whole stadium was filled with the sounds of balls being struck and shouts of applause.

The players range in age from seven to 18 years old. They were divided into four groups and four categories, comprising team and individual events for both males and females. The competition featured round-robin and knockout stages.

Yang Xinwei, deputy director of the organizing committee of the tournament, said it is the highest level of youth table tennis in Guiyang.

While training the city's youth team, top athletes will be selected to represent Guiyang city to participate in the Guizhou Provincial Championships in August, laying the foundation for the 2026 Guizhou Provincial Games.
