The 2023 Cool Guiyang E-Sports Competition kicked off at the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center on May 26 – located in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and on the same day the national finals of the NetEase NeXT competition started there.

NetEase Inc is a listed Chinese company that develops and operates online PC and mobile games, among other things. The finals were held from May 26 to 28, with more than 50 contestants from all over the country participating.

Using digital technology, a virtual scene containing landmarks such as the Jiaxiu Tower in Guiyang was created for the event, allowing the audience to experience the cultural customs of Guiyang while watching the games online.

Cai Tingyuan, deputy director of the Guiyang Chess and Card Management Center, said that Guiyang cooperated with leading domestic big data companies and adopted AI technology and virtual scenes to integrate Guiyang elements into the game.

Cai said this further promoted the combination of big data and the real economy with the high-quality development of big data and the e-sports industry.
