The ninth Guizhou Senior Sports Meeting opened in Anshun city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 22. The Guiyang delegation held a departure ceremony before leaving on April 19.
Guiyang's 330-member delegation included coaches, athletes and service personnel. The number of participants from Guiyang has set a record high.
It is understood that this senior sports meeting has been organized to the highest standards. It is the largest comprehensive sports event for the elderly in Guizhou.
A total of 19 competitive events, including table tennis, Tai Chi, and square dancing, are set to take place during this provincial event.
At the ceremony, Huang Jun, deputy director of the Guiyang bureau of sports, said, "Next, we will arrange 82 sports and fitness facilities that are suitable for the aging throughout the city. We will also carry out scientific fitness lectures to train social sports instructors who specialize in training the elderly."
Jiang Xingheng, vice chairman of the Guizhou Senior Sports Association and head of the Guiyang delegation, said that participating in the provincial event is a comprehensive test of the development and effectiveness of the city's senior sports initiative.
