Guiyang athletes shine at national biathlon event

The 2022-2023 National Biathlon Championships kicked off on Feb 3 at the Baiyin National Snow Sports Training Base in Northwest China's Gansu province.

In the competition on Feb 5, Wang Guanghao and Yang Huazhi, athletes of Guiyang, took the third and eighth place, respectively, in the men's 20-kilometer individual race.

Biathlon is a combination of cross-country skiing and shooting, and is one of the official events of the Winter Olympics Games.

The competition, which was the first national biathlon event after the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, consists of four categories: individual race, chase race, collective start and relay race.
