Guizhou athletes shine at Macao event

The National Tennis Individual Championships came to an end in the Macao Special Administrative Region on Dec 11. Athletes from the Guizhou tennis team in Guiyang city, Bai Yan, Zhao Zhao and Guo Meiqi, participated in the competition. Bai won second place in the men's singles, and Bai and Zhao won third place in the men's doubles, achieving a new breakthrough for the team.

This championship is the highest level in national tennis. Players are ranked according to their national points and China Tour tournament points before they are qualified to play in this event.

"During the China Tour tournament in late November, my body was already overloaded and I had not yet recovered. But I firmly believe that I can get to the top again, and that belief led me to finish runner-up," Bai said in an interview.

In addition to his identity as a professional tennis player, Bai is a mentor to Zhao, the youngest player on the team.

Liang Yu, head coach of the Guizhou tennis professional team, said that the tenacious sportsmanship displayed by the three athletes on the court inspired a new generation of young tennis players.
