Since the launch of the invitational tournament, more than 600 teams from 10 countries including China, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand have participated.

After nearly 20 days of preliminaries, 20 domestic teams were selected to gather in Guiyang and compete with 12 teams from ASEAN countries.

This is the first time that the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week has included an e-sports competition in the "sports humanities forum". The aim is to enrich the exchanges, promote the development of China-ASEAN digital economy, and promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

At the opening ceremony, a performance competition was held by the shortlisted domestic teams. The competition was broadcast live and cultural landmarks such as Guiyang's Jiaxiu Building were implanted at a virtual studio. The commentary also mentioned Guiyang's travel strategies and famous local foods, so that the audience at home and abroad could learn more about Guiyang.
