A total of 18 racing horses – including three imported champion horses, three imported Shetland horses and 12 high-quality domestic horses – arrived at the Guiyang International Equestrian Sports Center, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Oct 31.

The sports center opened on Nov 13, when activities such as family fun competitions and Guiyang featured performances were held on site.

Covering an area of 12,000 square meters, the main building of the center includes a racecourse, indoor training ground, professional stables, terraces and related office buildings. The venue is qualified to host international three-star equestrian events.

The center invited world-renowned equestrian athletes to provide technical guidance.

Huang Zuping, member of the Chinese equestrian delegation of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, serves as the head coach and general consultant at the center.

Franke Sloothaak (Germany), champion of the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Congress, was also invited to cooperate with the center for a long time.

Moving forward, the center will regularly hold various equestrian events, cultural forums, equestrian youth training sessions and other activities every year to further promote the popularity and development of equestrian sports in Guizhou.
