National kickboxing event kicks off in Guiyang

The National Kickboxing Championships were held in Qingzhen city, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, from Aug 26 to 30, attracting more than 220 athletes from 44 participating units from all over the country.

"The competition will promote the high-level and diversified development of free fighting in Qingzhen city and throughout the whole province and strengthen Qingzhen's title of National Martial Arts Hometown," said Wu Zhurong, chairman of the Qingzhen Political Consultative Conference, at the opening ceremony.

There are 10 levels each for men and women. The competition system is divided into individual and team competitions, and a single-elimination system is adopted. The organizing committee arranges uniformly according to the weight of the athletes.

The event also offers special awards such as "sportsmanship style team award", "best coach award", "best athlete award", and "excellent referee award".
