Guiyang delegation ranks first in provincial games

A basketball game during the 11th Guizhou Provincial Games on Aug 18, ended with a three-pointer made by the Guiyang team, which ended up winning the championship. The provincial games have now ended.

The Guizhou Provincial Games are the largest comprehensive sporting event in the province and are held every four years. The event this year was divided into a competitive sports group and a mass sports group, and a record nearly 9,000 athletes participated.

Among them, the Guiyang delegation had 1,561 athletes participate in the competition, and the city's number of participating projects and participants hit a record high.

In the competitive sports group, Guiyang athletes won 181 golds, 122 silvers and 144 bronzes for a total of 447 medals, ranking first in the province in terms of the numbers of both gold medals and total medals.

In the mass sports competition, the city's athletes won 60 golds, 38 silvers and 27 bronzes for a total of 124 medals, a record for the province.

In addition, more than 20 Guiyang teams – including basketball, football, weightlifting, martial arts, swimming, gymnastics, and table tennis – were awarded the Sports Ethics Award by the organizing committee.

The relevant person in charge of the Guiyang bureau of sports said that next, Guiyang will promote national fitness activities and the development of the sports industry.
