The Guiyang bureau of sports issued the Guiyang Sports Tourism Development Plan (2022-25) a few days ago. The plan provides strong support for Southwest China's Guiyang and Guian New Area to help them become a large-scale economic city and a famous tourism city with ecological characteristics.
The plan proposes that by 2022, Guiyang should build a comprehensive sports and leisure hub in Guizhou province and western China, and by 2025 it should build an international mountain sports tourism city.
Guiyang will pursue a new pattern of sports tourism development with Guanshan Lake, the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and Baiyun district at the core, Guian New Area, Yunyan and Nanming districts as supporting locations, Nanming River, a forest belt around the city, and Wujiang River as industrial links, and four major eco-themed sports tourism areas (mountains, culture, waterfront, and ecology) as main destinations.
Efforts will be made to create 10 engine projects, 20 demonstration projects, and 30 characteristic projects in Guiyang. A year-round, professional and hierarchical event system will be formed, including two national-level, five provincial-level, and 12 regional sports and tourism boutique routes.
