Guiyang city men's, women's teams win championships

The Guiyang men's and women's teams won the championship on July 17 in the futsal finals in the 11th Guizhou Provincial Games held in Liupanshui city, located in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Futsal is a soccer-based game played on a hard court that is smaller than a football pitch. It has similarities to five-a-side soccer and indoor soccer.

The Guiyang men's team won their championship, defeating the previous champions, the Tongren team, after conceding a goal. The Guiyang's women's team defeated the Liupanshui team and Zunyi team successively, achieving victory by relying on a consistent performance in its penalty shootouts.

The two teams comprise players that include teachers, bank staff members and other people from all walks of life.

Moving forwards, plans are for the Guiyang bureau of sports and the Guiyang soccer association to continue to promote soccer in the city, focusing on youth training and building up national fitness brand events.
