Guiyang athletes win gold, silver, bronze at regional event

The 2022 Guizhou Youth Mountain Bike Championship and the 11th Guizhou Games Mountain Bike Test Competition were held on May 30 at Meihua Mountain – administered by Liupanshui city, in Southwest China's Guizhou province – and athletes from Guiyang city triumphed. 

The city, capital of Guizhou, sent nine men and women to do battle in the first event, which was divided into Olympic cross-country, time trials and mixed team relay events.

The youth bike championship's track was 4.8 kilometers in length, including the main track and an auxiliary track. A variety of medium and high-difficulty technical points – such as leaps, jumps, turning roads and steep slopes – were positioned along the route.

After a day of fierce competition, Guiyang athlete Wang Sheng won the men's group time trial championship and he was also cross-country runner-up; Li Facai won the women's group time trial runner-up and she was cross-country runner-up; Chen Xiangyun won the men's group time trial runner-up; while Xiang Minghao, Chen Xiangyun, Wang Jiemeng and Li Facai were runners-up in the mixed relay.

The 2022 Guizhou Youth Mountain Bike Championship is expected to toughen up and prepare Guiyang's athletes for the upcoming provincial games.
