From May 4 to 5, the national rock-climbing training team held the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 national rock-climbing training team trials at the Climbing Hall of Qingzhen Sports Training Base in Qingzhen, a county-level city administered by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The rock-climbing competition in the 19th Asian Games will be held from September 15 to 19, and will offer up a total of six gold medals.

The trials consisted of men's and women's all-around and physical fitness tests. A total of 13 men and 10 women participated.

In the rock-climbing competition, athletes must climb five routes in sequence, and the more routes they complete, the more points they can earn.

In the difficulty competition, athletes must complete two routes in sequence. Their ranking is determined according to how high they climb.

Xia Zhaoyuan, director of the Guizhou Mountain Outdoor Sports Management Center, said that the climbing gym at the Qingzhen Sports Training Base is a national team training base.

"Summer camp, winter training, and the National Rock-Climbing Championship in August will all be held here, promoting the development of the sport in Guizhou," Xia said, adding that Guizhou will set up a professional rock climbing team this year.
