Athletes display martial arts skills at test event

Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, held a test event for youth martial arts routines at Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone from Nov 28 to 29.

The event was designed to select outstanding martial arts routine athletes to participate in the 11th Games of Guizhou Province which is expected to take place in Liupanshui city in 2022.

Jointly sponsored by Guiyang Sports Bureau and Guiyang Sports Middle School, the event attracted the participation of 68 martial arts athletes and 16 coaches and team leaders from martial arts clubs and schools such as Guiyang Xingfu Martial Arts School and Guiwutang Martial Arts Club.

Athletes at the event were divided into two groups. They then competed in Chinese boxing events such as long boxing and shadow boxing, and in the use of instruments like sword, cudgel and broadsword.

Throughout the two-day competition, the athletes showcased their skills and talents in martial arts and demonstrated and spread the traditional culture and spirit of the sport.
