Guiyang player qualifies for national tennis tournament semifinals

The professional finals of China's tennis tour and the quarterfinals of the national tennis tournament doubles were held on Nov 25 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center in Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Guo Hanyu, a tennis player from Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, together with her partner Yang Zhaoxuan from Beijing, defeated their opponents 6-4, 6-3 in the women's doubles.

The event was hosted by departments such as the tennis sport management center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Tennis Association. It served as the finals of six professional competitions, which were held in An'ning in Yunnan province, Rizhao in Shandong province, Changsha in Hunan province, Guiyang, Henan province, and Guangzhou in Guangdong province.

Top tennis players in the country participated in the event, which offered a total of 2.2 million yuan ($335,500) in prize money.

Guo qualified for both the singles and doubles of the professional finals. While in the first round of the women's singles on Nov 23, she lost to her opponent Yuan Yue 4-6, 4-6.
